Anyone else watching this? It's wonderful and well worth catching up with on iPlayer.

Loads of clips on Youtube too, of course.

I think it's a bit hit-and-miss

About 50% of it is half-decent, the other half toe-curling.

I'm bound to say the radio version, Down the Line, was much better. I have all three series on my iPod and when we've exhausted The WORD poodcasts on a long car journey, they're great to fall back on.

I thought I might be biased but...

I checked with a friend of mine and he loves it as well.

Paul Whitehouse is a genius and can do very little wrong in my eyes and Higson is no slouch either.

Glad someone posted on this as I kept meaning to.

The guy in last weeks show who presented a right wing radio show in B'ham was on the money and very very funny.

I was thinking about...

...Paul Whitehouse the other day: has he ever been in anything that was rubbish?

(Of course, he might well have been and I was just fortunate enough not to see it...)

No Paolo

Dont think he has, even the criminally ignored projects such as Happiness have been fantastic.

I think they handled

the transfer to tv very well. The original format was such a radio-based gag, after all. They have replaced the phone-in gobshite structure with the nebulous 'campaign' device that is so common in tv now. Much to enjoy in each episode, I have found.

Why do they have to

keep mucking around with things?

I'd just like to say I agree with the last poster

The 1st episode with Gary's two female fans was stolen by Simon Day's little slightly nervous, embarassed looks to camera as the husband. The whole cast are wonderful.

I have to say

that Felix Dexter is generally under appreciated, so it is great to see him getting some time at the crease. I particularly love his would-be UK patriot Nigerian and this whiter than white Cotswold dwelling upper class architect.

Yeah,

Julius is great. That accent is genius.

Am I missing something?

I watched a couple of episodes without cracking the merest hint of a grin. This is Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson. Comedy gods. Actors of the very finest water. They don't do shit.

It must be me.

And my wife.

And most of my mates apart from Hugh who thinks it's hysterical.

You're not alone

Same round ours. We were really looking forward to it. Loved all the things they've done before. Thought the first one was awful and haven't watched it since.

I think its OK

The thing to remember it is that it is largely improvised, so maybe needs a while to sink in. I'd argue Spinal Tap is funnier the 3rd or 4th time you see it once you've got used to the underplayed tone of the thing. (Not that I'm comparing this to 'Tap!)

It doesn't help that the 'set up' is all wrong so that when it starts it looks like it's going be a cross between Little Britain and The Fast Show.

I quite like it, and it is worth it for the brilliant Felix Dexter. I will seek out the radio show as often these type of programmes are far funnier without the latex fat suits, cheap sight-gags etc.

I enjoyed it

but I didn't laugh once.

So I didn't bother watching past the first episode

I sat through it, as unmoved as an Easter Island Monolith

Radio series was good.

This is pony.

thanks for the warning

truly dreadful Tosh .

I love it

Particularly Whitehouse's white van man and Higson's Nibbsy. I think Nibbsy would probably fit in well on here!

Funniest show on TV right now

Manages to combine accurate observation, social comment and daft gags seamlessly. Last week's episode was particularly good: the irate, bigotted local DJ; the obnoxious Ozzie; the dumb Pakistani rapper; the clueless African Anglophile. Each segment is a joy and, despite lasting no more than 2 minutes each, contains more wit and wisdom than the complete Little Britain output combined.

it's going down well Chez G

partly because they filmed some of it in Deptford so we can play spot our pub etc I know this limits it's appeal. I think it is a grower much like the fast show was but not sure it gains much by being on tv

Last night's episode was tremendous. Particularly the book reading and the Eckhart Tolle spoof.

Simon Day

Always loved Simon Day. the book reading last night was just brilliant. Shame there is not more Tommy Cockles on youtube.

Jon Whitney | 19 February 2010 - 10:34am

I watched it for the first time last night...

and I think it's patchy but entertaining.

The nutcase doing the book reading really made me laugh. Very good.
